NLP

This week I learned some things related to NLP from the Communications module in the CEP as conducted by a Mr Terence Jiam.

The following are some key takeaways.

1) The meaning of my communication is based on the response I get, not my intention. This is one of the postulates of NLP.

2) Say things to children when they are asleep or as they are just falling asleep. Tell them you love them while they're sleeping to build a strong security. The further a baby crawls away from you the more secure it feels.

3) Whisper in the left ear to build memories.

4) Look up for 3 seconds minimum to cut off emotion

5) Use tagged questions. Say something, add a question at the end

6) Resistance is a sign of lack in rapport. Building rapport is crucial in creating influence. Duration of knowing someone doesn't determine level of rapport you have.

7) Research shows that there was similar body language everytime there was a similar brainwave and vice versa.

8) to build rapport, mirror/match their body language. guidelines to do so:
    - wait for them to settle into a posture
    - don't match something that is out of your comfort zone
    - match until when? how to test rapport. test by changing our posture and seeing wqhether they             follow too.
    - blink when they blink
    - match the blinking, match the facial expressions, match the tonality
    - use keywords and sensory words. everyone has preference over sensory: A,V,K,Ad

9) Law of Concentrated Attention

10) Milton Erickson - My Voice Will Go with you, Teaching Tales

11) Ask a question in a manner in which through the very act of responding, there is a subconscious acceptance of the implication posed in the question. For instance, Erickson asked a kleptomaniac boy "How do you feel knowing that your life will change in two weeks". Regardless of the response, his subconscious is forced to accept that his life will change in two weeks.

12) Our mind cannot process "Do Not" or "Don't". Implication of Law of Concentrated Attention. Need to reframe.

Developing a systematic knowledge database

I need to develop a systematic database of knowledge - things I learned in the week, regarding self development and all that. Too many things picked up only to be dropped. Consider this entry no 1
